Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards has revealed she ‘lost a lot of friends’ when she became famous, after winning The X Factor with her bandmates.

The 26-year-old rose to fame back in 2011, when she won the singing show alongside Jesy Nelson, Jade Thirlwall, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, with the girl group going from strength to strength for years afterwards.

However, her friendships definitely took a hit.

‘I’ve lost a lot of friends. Which is s**t,’ she admitted. ‘I feel like as soon as I made it in the group, I lost everybody. A bit of betrayal, a bit of b***hiness.’

Perrie added to Cosmopolitan: ‘It’s harder when you’re in the [music] industry, because you don’t have the time anymore and a lot of people don’t understand that.’

She went on to explain that she began to get self-conscious when she entered the music industry, pointing out that she and the girls weren’t used to that level of scrutiny.

However, now she’s learnt not to worry about what others think, only focusing on the people that matter to her.

‘When I’m around my friends and family in my house and I’ve got my boyfriend there I’m the happiest person alive,’ she said.

Perrie, who is currently spending the UK lockdown with her boyfriend, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, is enjoying the break from her Little Mix duties – although she’s definitely missing her girls.

When asked if they have been in touch, the 26-year-old said: ‘Yeah constantly, our group chat on WhatsApp is always popping off.

‘We’re so used to being together 24/7, we live in each other’s pockets. When we’re not together, it feels really weird,’ she explained on Good Morning Britain recently.

‘But it’s also quite nice to have a little bit of breathing space for once, because we never get time off. It’s just weird circumstances.’

Although we’re a little heartbroken over the new Little Mix album potentially being delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, at least the girls are having a well-earned break.

The Little Mix singer has been catching up on her household chores and trying out new things while in isolation.

Speaking on The Rebecca Judd show on Apple Music about what she’s been up to, the 26-year-old said: ‘Obviously looking after the new puppy [her new French bulldog puppy, Travis], tidying the house because it’s constantly an absolute tip.

‘Knitting, baking, cooking, jigsaws, dancing, scooter. I’ve got scooters arrived in the garage. We were prepared for this.’

She continued: ‘We got activities before we even decided to go on lockdown because we just thought, right, we need activities to do.’

If a bulldog puppy doesn’t occupy your entire day, we don’t know what will.

Perrie has been isolating with footballer boyfriend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who raved about how ‘tremendous’ she is.

Speaking during an Instagram Q&A session on the Colossal Sports Management page, he was asked if the 26-year-old had ‘started annoying him’ yet.

‘She has been tremendous during quarantine, she’s proper house-wifey,’ he replied.

‘She’s been cleaning up, cooking every day. Meals have been unbelievable. She doesn’t get annoyed with me playing the Play Station. She’s top, I love her.’

A cute dog, boyfriend, and good cooking? Sounds like the perfect isolation to us.

If there’s one celebrity who’s absolutely nailing coronavirus lockdown, then it’s Perrie Edwards.

So far we’ve seen the Little Mix star get an adorable new puppy – a French Bulldog called Travis, smashing TikTok dances with boyfriend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and building her very own trampoline in her back garden.

She’s been having cocktails in the garden, cooking up a storm in the kitchen and now, Perrie is showcasing her vocal talents and putting one her very own one-woman musicals.

No kidding.

Taking to Instagram, Perrie shared the first of her ‘isolation musical collection’ and sang Danced All Night from classic show My Fair Lady.

She captioned her post: ‘Perrie Edwards – The isolation musical collection: scene 1. My fair lady – I could have danced all night.’

And, boy, does she have pipes.

Fans were so impressed by Perrie’s efforts, along with her celebrity pals including Pixie Lott who commented: ‘Amazing yessss Perrie!!!’

Celebrity make-up artist Anna Lingis wrote: ‘You’re just insane!!! Amazing.’

Perrie is currently self-isolating at home with her footballer boyfriend Alex and best pal Ellie.

And it sounds like living in quarantine has been great for Perrie’s relationship, as Alex can’t get enough of his girlfriend.

Gushing about Pez, he told fans via an Instagram Q&A: ‘She has been tremendous during quarantine, she’s proper house-wifey.

‘She’s been cleaning up, cooking every day. Meals have been unbelievable. She doesn’t get annoyed with me playing the Play Station. She’s top, I love her.’

He said: ‘She made this chorizo pasta a couple of nights ago and it was banging.

‘Also this Sunday dinner. I am not a Sunday dinner person, but she made it on Sunday and it was unbelievable and she’s converted me. But yeah, the cooking is on fire.’

Alex and Perrie have been dating for over three years now.

Revealing how she’s finding lockdown, Perrie revealed on Good Morning Britain that the pair have been getting on ‘really well’.

‘We’re just trying to stay positive and keep ourselves busy and I’ve just been doing loads of stuff like knitting, a bit of baking,’ she said.

‘[With Alex] It’s like giving a child have Coca Cola and a whole bag of sweets and putting them in a room and keeping them in there. He’s got so much energy!’

Little Mix star Perrie Edwards has revealed she’s having ‘the time of her life’ in lockdown with her boyfriend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Hey, at least she’s looking on the bright side.

The star is making the most of time with her boyfriend, with the pair of them enjoying a break from their usually busy lives as they isolate in their stunning home together.

‘I feel like I’m really enjoying this, I can’t lie. I’m having the time of my life!’ she said. ‘I’ve never spent so much time with my boyfriend, I’ve never spent so much time in my house.’

The 26-year-old added on KIIS FM’s Kyle & Jackie O Show: ‘Like, I’ve never had just so much time on my hands to do stuff that I’ve always wanted to do, so it has been nice.’

You mean she’s not spending it binging Netflix? Teach us the ways, Perrie!

However, like the rest of us, she’s been having a bit of a problem with the days all blending together.

‘I’m losing track of what day it is, what month it is, what time it is. I feel like any time is good for a glass of wine, because I don’t know what time it is,’ she laughed.

Basically, it sounds like she’s doing lockdown better than any of us, smashing a few TikTok trends, having cocktails in the garden, and cooking up a storm in the kitchen.

And that’s not even to mention her one-woman musical that left fans in stitches.

Meanwhile, it seems like Perrie and Alex’s relationship is better than ever, with the footballer raving about his girlfriend during an Instagram Q&A. Oh, those two.

‘She has been tremendous during quarantine, she’s proper house-wifey,’ he explained.

‘She’s been cleaning up, cooking every day. Meals have been unbelievable. She doesn’t get annoyed with me playing the Play Station. She’s top, I love her.’

Zayn Malik’s love life over the years as he’s set to welcome baby with Gigi Hadid

Zayn Malik shot to fame 10 years ago as a fresh-faced teen who hated dancing, seeking fame on The X Factor.

And it looks like as well as watching his journey to superstardom, we’ll also get to see Zayn’s journey to fatherhood.

Gigi Hadid is reportedly five months pregnant with her and Zayn’s first child, after a five year on-off relationship.

The genetically blessed pair first hooked up in 2015 after meeting at a Victoria’s Secret fashion show party, but the supermodel wasn’t Zayn’s first famous girlfriend.

The now 27-year-old’s love life has gained as much attention as his music career, with two X Factor relationships and a broken engagement.

Back in 2011, following the seventh series of The X Factor – on which Zayn came third with One Direction – the Bradford lad began dating fellow finalist Rebecca Ferguson as they prepared to tour the UK with their fellow acts.

The four-month romance attracted controversy due to the age gap between the two – Zayn was 18 years old, while Rebecca was 24 and a mother-of-two.

Rebecca later admitted that she used to have to stump up the bills for their date nights, due to Zayn’s young age.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, the Nothing’s Real But Love singer said: ‘At the time I found it really hard. But I mean, in context there were bigger things going on in the world, but at the time – I think I was 23, it was, it was a bit upsetting.’

Now at the age of 33, Rebecca can take the positive out of their whirlwind romance and said: ‘But life goes on and I look back with fond memories of that relationship and I just think it’s part of learning and growing as a person.’

While his romance with Rebecca didn’t work out, that didn’t turn Zayn off X Factor relationships.

In 2011, when a wee band called Little Mix (nee Rhythmix) were competing on The X Factor, One Direction returned to perform on the live shows, and Zayn met singer Perrie Edwards.

The two popstars began dating in early 2012 and went public in May. The relationship moved pretty quickly from there, with Zayn and Gigi getting a puppy called Hatchi in November the same year.

Despite unfounded allegations that Malik cheated with an Australian waitress in January 2013, Zayn and Perrie were love’s young dream, with Zayn getting a permanent sign of his love via a tattoo of Perrie’s face on his arm.

And it seems the tatt did the trick for Pez, as in August, Perrie’s mother confirmed that the couple were engaged, telling the Dorset Echo: ‘It’s official. I’m over the moon. They are really in love.’

Cue hearts breaking all over the world.

The husband and wife-to-be hit the red carpet the same month for the premiere of One Direction’s movie This Is Us, and Perrie showed us what we were all waiting for – that very blingy engagement ring.

However, fast forward to March 2015, and things started to go downhill.

Zayn was pictured with his arm wrapped around future Love Island star Lauren Richardson in Thailand, sparking rumours he had cheated.

The singer slammed the speculation, tweeting: ‘I’m 22 years old…  I love a girl named Perrie Edwards. And there’s a lot of jealous f***s in this world I’m sorry for what it looks like x.’

But five months later – after Zayn quit One Direction and signed a solo record deal – it was all over, as the news broke that Zayn and Perrie’s engagement was called off, apparently via a text message.

Zayn later denied this, telling Fader magazine: ‘I love her a lot, and I always will, and I would never end our relationship over four years like that.’

But in 2016, Perrie insisted that Zayn dumped her over text, in Little Mix’s book Our World.

She wrote: ‘It was horrible, the worst time in my life. A four-year relationship, two year engagement ended by a simple text message. Just like that.

‘Even though things in my career were going really well, it was incredibly difficult for me.’

Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid

At this time, Zayn was in a relationship with Gigi, and Perrie seemed to make a not-so-subtle dig at her former fiance in Little Mix’s number one song, Shout Out To My Ex.

The lyrics go: ‘Heard he in love with some other chick/ Yeah yeah, that hurt me, I’ll admit/ Forget that boy, I’m over it/ I hope she gettin’ better sex/ Hope she ain’t fakin’ it like I did, babe/ Took four long years to call it quits/ Forget that boy, I’m over it.’

Ouch.

Still, it looks like things worked out for the best. Perrie is now loved up with footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, while Zayn is back with Gigi after breaking up last year – and now they have a bun in the oven.

Zayn will be the third One Direction star to become a father, after Louis Tomlinson welcomed a son, Freddie, with hairdresser Briana Jungwirth, and Liam Payne had son Bear with ex Cheryl.

Perrie Edwards convinces boyfriend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to have ‘diabolical’ lockdown trim

Perrie Edwards has finally convinced her boyfriend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to cut his hair – and had to show fans a glimpse of his new unkempt do.

The Little Mix singer and the Liverpool footballer had appeared on Supreme Nutrition’s Instagram stories earlier today to give fans a glimpse of what they’re up to while in lockdown – with Perrie suggesting that Alex could do with a good haircut.

Posting a clip to the story, the England ace was seen showing off his hair to followers, saying: ‘Look at the afro, it’s flourishing.’

‘We need to cut his hair,’ his girlfriend then responded. ‘Now he won’t let me but…’

Before Alex then interjected: ‘I said yes!’

As Perrie then took a quick glimpse at her boyfriend, she responded: ‘Now you’ve said yes, I’m actually quite scared, I don’t want to do it.’

She then appeared to look quite surprised as Alex proceeded to present a pair of hair clippers to the camera.

The 26-year-old had also shared a poll, asking fans if she should cut his hair or not – with an overwhelming majority voting for yes.

Later on, Perrie documented Alex taking the clippers to his head as he proceeded to buzz off his locks.

But things didn’t quite go to plan, as he ended up cutting his sideburns down to the skin on one side of his face.

It does look quite painful.

As Perrie continued to film the sports star, he admitted that he didn’t think he would be able to do the other side of his face.

‘I’m staying clear of these hair shenanigans,’ she captioned the post. ‘No chance I’m getting the blame for that diabolical trim.’

Well, we don’t think it looks that bad.

A few days earlier, Perrie admitted that she was having ‘the time of her life’ self-isolating with her partner in their home together.

During an interview on KIIS FM’s Kyle & Jackie O Show, she said: ‘I feel like I’m really enjoying this, I can’t lie. I’m having the time of my life.

‘I’ve never spent so much time with my boyfriend, I’ve never spent so much time in my house.’

She added: ‘Like, I’ve never had just so much time on my hands to do stuff that I’ve always wanted  to do, so it has been nice.’

Little Mix know how to make the best out of a bad situation by filming the music video for their latest single from the comfort of their own homes.

The girl group, featuring Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall, have released teasers from the Break Up Song visuals ahead of its debut at midnight on Friday (8 May).

It was all shot from their individual homes with the UK still in coronavirus lockdown, and throws it way to the ‘80s.

In teaser photos, Perrie completely embraces the ‘80s theme with her blonde hair in big loose curls, while Jesy sports equally big hair and matches her neon blazer with bright pink blush on her cheeks.

The Woman Like Me singer is holding a copy of Jackie magazine with a throwback photo of her mum on the cover.

Jade stands in front of a pink disco backdrop wearing double denim and a ‘choose love’ t-shirt which is very ‘80s.

As well as filming the pop stars in quarantine, The Break Up Song video will also be part animation.

Explaining their decision to go ahead with releasing a video for the song, Jade told Metro.co.uk exclusively: ‘It’s actually been kinda cool finding new ways of creating content for our fans.

‘We loved the concept of our video so much, so instead of losing it we thought why not turn it into animation. We’ve always wanted to do that with a music video anyway, so now seemed like the perfect time.’

She added: ‘It was so fun dolling myself up in 80s glam to shoot the video! It made a nice change from sitting in my pjs and joggers.

‘It’s something to look back on as a positive experience and memory for our fans in these weird times.’

Break Up Song was released in March, just days after the UK went into lockdown, and reached number nine on the charts.

It’s expected to feature on Little Mix’s anticipated sixth studio album although a release date for the record is yet to be set.

The Break Up Song music video will be released at midnight on Friday (8 May).

Leigh-Anne Pinnock had her pal Perrie Edwards jumping for joy after flashing her so-called ‘engagement ring.’

The Little Mix singers appeared on Capital Radio on Saturday night with host Jimmy Hill and Leigh-Anne decided to play a little trick that almost had us fooled.

‘So, is there any exciting news?’ Perrie asked Leigh-Anne. ‘Do you have any secret projects or gossip you would like share?’

Leigh-Anne, 28, had a sly smile on her face and responded: ‘Well, it’s funny you mention that actually!

‘I was going to tell you guys in person, but I feel like I couldn’t wait,’ before showing a fake engagement ring on her hand.

She had us all thinking her boyfriend Andre Gray proposed there for a second…

That was our reaction too (Picture: CapitalFM)

Her pal was fooled too and screamed with shock and excitement.

‘You can’t do that Leigh-Anne! I nearly died,’ Perrie gasped after realising it was all a very cruel ruse.

We can only dream.

The prank comes after Leigh-Anne admitted she’s been waiting for her footballer beau to pop the question.

Speaking during an Instagram live, the star revealed that wedding bells are more than likely on the cards as she ‘patiently waits.’

Leigh-Anne was asked if she could see herself and Andre marrying and she replied: ‘I really hope so. I’m just waiting you know. I’m waiting… patiently.’

The couple are currently spending the coronavirus lockdown together at Leigh-Anne’s home and she insists, that despite being cooped up with the footballer, she’s not quite ‘bored’ of him just yet.

Leigh-Anne said: ‘[Andre] said something really cute last night. We were talking about this whole situation, then he said, “I find myself looking to see where you are.”

‘I told him, “I’m not sick of seeing your face at all”, I’m not bored of him, put it that way.’

Aww, guys. Now make it happen.

Following the Black Lives Matter protests in London, Little Mix have once again proved they are more than just pop stars: they use their platform to shine a light on the issues that really matter.

After Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall were seen joining in with the march, it was revealed that Leigh-Anne was reportedly filming a documentary to highlight issues of racism

The singer was seen marching with a placard that read ‘You think you’re tired of hearing about racism, imagine how you would feel experiencing it’, as a camera man was seen filming her listening to the impassioned speech of a nearby protester.

The upcoming documentary is yet to be officially confirmed, but it is thought to be airing on BBC Three.

Leigh-Anne also recently shared her experiences of racism and admitted to feeling like the ‘least favoured’ member of the band by fans.

Her film is the latest in a long list of examples that show how much Little Mix have stepped up to help their fans by raising awareness of the issue that matter to their enormous audience.

Jesy Nelson received huge critical acclaim, including a National Television Award, for her documentary Odd One Out, in which she spoke about how she was impacted by trolling.

In it, she revealed that she was left feeling suicidal by the endless stream of horrible comments she had received about her looks.

Jesy’s raw honesty on such a personal topic helped fans who might be experiencing cyber-bullying of their own to realise they are not alone and that things can – and do – get better.

As well as raising awareness of racism and bullying, the band has also become a beacon for LGBTQ+ fans thanks to Jade Thirlwall’s ongoing support for the community.

Jade has been an ally to the LGBTQ+ community since the start of the band, from her love of drag to becoming an ambassador for Stonewall.

As well as dedicating the band’s track Secret Love Song to LGBT fans, she and Leigh-Anne marched for the transgender children’s charity Mermaids at Pride in 2019.

The band also performed under a giant rainbow banner in Dubai in 2019, where homosexuality is still illegal.

The girls are also never afraid to speak out on subjects that are deeply personal to them, with Perrie Edwards sharing her battle with anxiety last year.

Letting fans know they were not alone in having mental health struggles, Perrie revealed that she gets panic attacks and anxiety, leading her to feel like she was having a heart attack.

Despite looking confident on the outside, Perrie revealed that her anxiety had at one point been so bad she was too scared to leave the house.

It was realising that she was not alone in feeling this way that helped her through it, and she chose to open up about it to fans to reassure them that those feelings and struggles are totally normal.

While many celebrities have spoken out about racial inequality in the wake of the Black Lives Matter protests, Leigh-Anne’s documentary isn’t the first time she has raised these issues.

She spoke out over a year ago about her experiences, revealing she had felt ‘invisible and replaceable’ for a long time after joining the band.

The messages the band shares with their fans are never preachy – they are always relatable, and the fact they are delivered by four ‘normal’ girls ensures their fans understand that, aside from fame, they aren’t so different.

In a world becoming ever more saturated with reality stars using their fame to flog sponsored products to their loyal followers for a hefty referral fee, seeing stars who not only have genuine talent but want to use their influence to effect change is a real tonic.

With a combined following of over 30 million on Instagram, it’s important for the band to use their enormous audience to spread positivity and reassurance to as many people as possible – and we know they are far from finished here.

Perrie Edwards and her boyfriend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are clearly keeping themselves entertained in lockdown, having a boogie in their kitchen as they cooked.

The Little Mix star shared a video of herself and her beau dancing away to the girls’ hit Break Up Song and they’re absolutely adorable.

They managed to keep straight faces until Alex went a bit rogue with his dance, miming a broken heart, as Perrie cracked up.

Footballer Alex could be seen cooking dinner, while Perrie slung an arm on his shoulder, as little pup Hatchi got in on the action.

And, although the singer was forced to wing it as she gave Alex a haircut in lockdown, she’s admitted she’s actually having a blast.

So cute! (Picture: Little Mix/Twitter)

Clearly we all just need to be a bit more Perrie right now!

Perrie Edwards and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain are serious couple goals already, but the singer proved she is her man’s biggest fan with a series of posts celebrating his football team’s win.

The Little Mix star, 26, shared a series of photos of Alex celebrating Liverpool’s Premier League win after the club landed the title for the first time in 30 years.

She shared posts from Liverpool FC and other sporting accounts on her Instagram story to mark the momentous occasion Alex had been part of.

Perrie wrote alongside a photo of Alex with his arms outstretched, with a massive smile on his face: ‘This picture makes me so happy. HE makes me so happy!’

N’awww.

Perrie and Alex have been isolating together since lockdown began and have kept fans up to date with what they’ve been up to.

As well as practising TikTok dances together, the paid have also been whipping up delicious meals in the kitchen together, too.

Perrie shared a video of the pair of them dancing to Little Mix’s Break Up Song together while cooking.

She told KIIS’s Kyle and Jackie O: ‘I feel like I’m really enjoying this, I can’t lie. I’m having the time of my life!

‘I’ve never spent so much time with my boyfriend, I’ve never spent so much time in my house.

She added: ‘I’m losing track of what day it is, what month it is, what time it is. I feel like any time is good for a glass of wine, because I don’t know what time it is!’

Perrie Edwards has been praised for showing off her scar.

The Little Mix star underwent a series of operations when she was younger to enlarge her oesophagus – as she was born with Oesophageal Atresia, meaning her oesophagus didn’t develop properly.

She was left with a scar on her stomach after time in hospital, which she has learnt to accept.

Taking to Instagram, the 26-year-old shared a string of stunning snaps as she posed in her bathroom, including a close up of the mark in a mirror.

‘Mood and ILY icle scar,’ she captioned the uploads.

And fans flooded the post with supportive messages, thanking the Break Up Song singer for being so positive.

‘Your scar is stunning as are you,’ a follower wrote, while an Instagram user penned: ‘Embracing your beautiful bod.’

‘Thankyou for teaching everyone to love our scars,’ another commented. ‘U ARE STUNNING [sic].’

‘So glad you post pictures of your scar,’ one said. ‘I have a 21 year old daughter who had open heart surgery at 4 and feels comfy showing her scar thanks to you x.’

Perrie opened up about the insecurities surrounding the mark in a candid chat with CelebsNow, explaining she didn’t ‘want to show it’.

‘When I was little, my oesophagus was too small, so I had to get it operated on to help me eat properly,’ she said.

‘I had to have lots of operations, so that’s why I don’t want to show it.’

Since the chat, the X Factor winner has showcased her scars proudly on social media – winning admiration from many.

Little Mix has revealed the artwork for their new single, Holiday – and it looks like a leaked pic from the upcoming live-action remake of a certain classic Disney film from 1989.

Indeed, the band – comprised of Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock – rocked mermaid looks for the shot… long, curiously dry hair and all.

The girls are also set to appear as mermaids in Holiday’s music video, to be released next Friday, 24 July 2020.

Can’t wait.

Little Mix – whose last single Break Up Song went top 10 earlier this year – have yet to reveal the name or artwork of Holiday’s parent album; their first LP since 2018’s LM5.

The new era follows Jade’s comments last month about the band’s comparative lack of success in the US – and the need for ‘that one song’ to break through.

Perhaps Holiday is it?

‘In America, we’ve done so much hard work – back and forwards, months at a time, doing the rounds,’ Jade told The Sun.

‘We’ve got the fan base but it just doesn’t click. It’s a really bitter pill to swallow that we’re not humongous over there.’

She also said: ‘I don’t know what makes you connect with American radio but you need that one song and then it explodes.

‘Until you get that, it’s not going to happen.’

Arguably the girls have made it in America – their first two albums went top 10 on the Billboard 200, after all.

The group – who formed on X Factor in 2011 – have meanwhile landed five top five albums in the UK.

Perrie Edwards couldn’t contain her pride as she watched boyfriend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain lift the Premier League trophy with Liverpool.

Although the team were named champions on 25 June, they were finally handed the cup at Anfield on Wednesday, following a 5-3 win over Chelsea.

And the Little Mix favourite, 27, was thrilled for her beau as she watched the game unfold on screen.

Taking to her Instagram story, she shared a snap of Alex to celebrate his goal on the night, alongside the message: ‘Getttt innnnnn ma babeh!!!’

The Holiday singer then posted a video of the moment the 26-year-old lifted the trophy for the first time, alongside teammates Mo Salah, Virgil Van Dijk and Jordan Henderson.

To hammer home the point even more, We Are The Champions played out in the background of her story.

Something tells us she’s a little more than excited by the win…

Supporters were not allowed inside the stadium over safety measures – however plenty of fans gathered outside the stadium to celebrate, despite being advised not to.

The couple have been dating since around 2016, and have been inseparable of late, thanks to lockdown measures.

And the X Factor winner revealed she has been having the ‘time of her life’ with the England ace.

In a recent chat with KIIS’s Kyle and Jackie O, she confessed: ‘I feel like I’m really enjoying this, I can’t lie. I’m having the time of my life!

‘I’ve never spent so much time with my boyfriend, I’ve never spent so much time in my house.

‘Like, I’ve never had just so much time on my hands to do stuff that I’ve always wanted to do, so it has been nice.

‘I’m losing track of what day it is, what month it is, what time it is. I feel like any time is good for a glass of wine, because I don’t know what time it is!’

Fair play.

PrettyLittleThing x Little Mix - Collection Launch
Little Mix have been defying expectations since day one (Picture: David M. Benett/Dave Benett/Getty)

In many ways, it doesn’t make sense for Little Mix to still be a thing.

I don’t mean they aren’t good. Please, I have taste! It goes without saying that they’re God-tier phenomenal.

But as many pop fans know, ‘good’ doesn’t always translate to ‘successful’ – and considering the longevity of other groups, the realistic prospects of those discovered on talent shows, and the fact that streaming has completely transformed the UK charts in recent years, it’s absolutely ridiculous (in the best way possible!) that they’re still here; releasing their 25th single, Holiday, today.

To be fair, though, they’ve been defying expectations since day one.

It’s been almost nine years – yes, one shy of a whole-ass decade – since Jade Thirlwall, Leigh Anne Pinnock, Jesy Nelson and Perrie Edwards were put together on The X Factor, dubbed Rhythmix, and ranked by bookies as the least favourite to win.

Judging by their own looks of elated surprise every time they made it through a Sunday results show, even they weren’t expecting to get far. But, despite a distracting name change in the early stages, something clicked.

Nobody knew it at the time, but in the first phone vote of the series, Rhythmix-slash-Little Mix polled an impressive fourth – already far better than all-female acts from previous series who were almost instantly eliminated. Two weeks later, thanks to a well-received rendition of Katy Perry’s E.T., they rose to second.

Their likeable personalities, confident performances and impressive vocals were resonating more and more each week, and by the time bookies, the media and maybe even the producers had cottoned on, they were unstoppable. Their now-iconic version of Don’t Let Go (Love) by En Vogue pretty much cemented their route to victory.

That was the first of many times Little Mix beat the odds, and they’re still doing it in big old 2020.

How many pop acts, let alone those born on reality TV, have been able to break a US chart record previously held by the Spice Girls? (That’s ‘highest album debut by a British girl group’, fact fans.)

How many pop acts have managed to not only survive the mid-2010s reinvention of how music is marketed and released, but thrive in it? At the time of writing, they have over 16million monthly listeners on Spotify.

And finally, how many pop acts hit their commercial peak with not their first, second or third album, but their fourth? How many reach their critical peak with their fifth? In fact, how many last long enough to release five albums at all?!

Next year, all being well, this quartet of queens will hit their 10-year anniversary – something no realistic music fan would have expected when they first got together.

Very few acts of their ilk get anywhere near the decade mark. Even game-changers like the Spice Girls shed a member less than two years after their debut.

When bands do manage to stick around for the long haul, they rarely manage it without multiple line-up changes (Sugababes, Destiny’s Child, Eternal) and/or a temporary split or ‘hiatus’ in the middle (Girls Aloud, Take That, All Saints).

But Little Mix have gone the distance. They’ve endured behind-the-scenes label problems, frequent misogynistic outfit-related backlash, a war of words with Piers Morgan, and even having songs co-written for them by Jess Glynne. But they’re still here!

And not only are they still here, but they’re still churning out hits that slap harder than Pat Butcher. Their most recent release before Holiday – the 80s-influenced Break Up Song – is right up there with Move, Touch and Nothing Else Matters as one of their very best.

The vocals are still strong (pump a Perrie ad-lib into my veins any day of the week), the harmonies are still tight and the hooks are still massive.

Plus, I’m not one of those ‘BUT DO THEY WRITE THEIR OWN SONGS?’ snobs, but yes, they often do have a big hand in their own hitmaking. Jade and Leigh-Anne even have their own publishing deals.

Plus, their live performances are never anything less than slick and exciting – even if you’re sitting in the very back row of the O2, as my sister and I were at their last tour.

They’re also extremely hard to dislike as individuals. Jade is such a strong ally for the LGBTQ+ community – both in public and behind closed doors – that I’m actually jealous of younger queer people who get to grow up with her as a role model.

Leigh-Anne has spoken out so wonderfully amid the recent Black Lives Matter discourse, and only dead-inside monsters could have made it to the end of Jesy’s Odd One Out documentary without a huge amount of admiration for her.

So even though they may not have changed the face of pop culture like the Spice Girls or sparked the same global hysteria as One Direction, I still think – with their relentless hits, inspirational activism and all-round, er, X-factor – Little Mix deserve to be counted as true legends of British pop.

And the best part? They’re still not close to being finished.

Perrie Edwards gets frank about her future with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: ‘He is my forever’

Dream team: Perrie Edwards with beau Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Picture: Perrie Edwards/Instagram)

Perrie Edwards has explained why she is not piling the pressure on footballer lover Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to put a ring on it.

Even though the Liverpool player is her ‘forever’ the Little Mix siren, who was once engaged to 1D’s Zayn Malik, is in no hurry to rush up the aisle.

Painting a picture of what life in lockdown was like with the Premier League winner, 26, she told Guilty Pleasures: ‘We always talk about the future. He’s my forever, but I don’t think we are ready to get engaged any time soon.’

Her chilled stance comes after bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock, 28, admitted she had badgered her footballer beau Andre Gray, 29, routinely before he recently popped the question.

Instead, Perrie and Alex have been practising at being parents to pet pooch Travis — and they have learned the reality of family life is that it can truly stink.

Perrie, 27, said: ‘He (Travis) is massive. He’s a good boy. He farts a lot but I can’t smell. But Ali is like, “That dog needs to stop farting, it’s disgusting”.’

Perrie Edwards and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

However Perrie insists their four-legged friend is ‘adorable’.

And she said taking an enforced break from showbiz’s hamster wheel had been a welcome boost.

‘In our careers you don’t get the option to say, “I’m going to take two months off, or go on holiday”. You just don’t have that in this lifestyle and it has made us realise we do work non-stop,’ she added.

‘It is tiring and intense. The fact Little Mix have been together for nearly ten years and we’ve never not seen each other or had time off from work made us realise that we need to give ourselves a break.

Perrie Edwards

‘It’s good to have a moment away from the madness. It (lockdown) was a kinda blessing in disguise.’

Back to work after dropping new ditty Holiday, she teased Little Mix’s sixth album is imminent.

‘We have finished the album, which is amazing,’ she spilled.

‘It will be a third single then album or maybe album then single. We can’t wait to release it.’

Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock threw some serious shapes on Friday as they rehearsed for their first gig of the year.

The singers practiced their dance moves at Hertfordshire’s Knebworth House ahead of the second UNCancelled! digital performance organised by Meerkat Music.

Perrie, 27, rocked a leopard print bodysuit and wide leg trousers while Leigh-Anne donned a printed top and matching leggings.

Outfits that would look horrific on us, but of course the girls pulled it off with pure sartorial panache.

Perrie and Leigh-Anne will join Jade Thirwall and Jesy Nelson in performing eight songs at the show, which is in partnership with Comparethemarket.com and kicks off at 8pm on 21 August.

Fans can watch six songs, while a further two songs will be available to those who have a comparethemarket.com account.

The gals’ performance will be live-streamed on the Meerkat YouTube channel.

Their UK summer tour was cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic so naturally, Little Mix are pretty excited about their upcoming show.

Leigh-Anne said: ‘We’ve been devastated that we couldn’t perform live this summer, it’s the thing we have missed the most as a band.’

Jesy added: ‘We can’t wait to get the nation together digitally to perform some of our favourite songs for one big party in their homes and gardens.’

The band recently released their latest single Holiday and have finished work on their sixth album.

It follows Jade’s admission last month that the group haven’t yet cracked America – and need that ‘one song’ to break through.

‘In America, we’ve done so much hard work – back and forwards, months at a time, doing the rounds,’ she said.

‘We’ve got the fan base but it just doesn’t click. It’s a really bitter pill to swallow that we’re not humongous over there.’

Perrie Edwards has told fans she is no longer ‘picking herself apart’ when it comes to bikini pictures as she holidays in Spain.

The Little Mix star, 27, has been living the life on board a yacht in Ibiza with her beau, Liverpool footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and showed fans a glimpse at their holiday.

She told her followers: ‘I’m yacht goin to lie, I’m all a-boat lovin’ you. It’s al-waves fun when we on the boat & ma boy lookin ship shape!’

Perrie had earlier taken to her Instagram story to thank fans for not sharing photos of her taken by paparazzi photographers while she was away.

She wrote: ‘I love you all for hearing me. Not a single one of you have posted any pics from my holiday after the interview I did recently with Glamour UK.

‘Just know I see it. I appreciate you all. You always have my back.’

The singer had said in the interview: ‘I think, do you know what, I’m going to be honest and say, the times I actually pick myself apart and feel miserable is when I get papped in a bikini.

‘Or papped in a way that one, I’m not aware that I’m being papped. And two, it makes me feel dirty.

‘People will say to me, “Oh, you look great!” I’m like, “Are you kidding me? Do I look like that?” Then I’ll cry. Like, I’ll actually cry.

‘I reached out to my girl @DaniellePeazer (very last minute [eye roll emoji]) before my holiday and she put me through my paces and I’m so thankful.

Jesy Nelson, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall would usually spend the majority of the summer months travelling from city to city and country to country, so it’s no wonder they described life in lockdown as ‘bizarre’.

The girls, who will be performing a Meerkat Music ’UNCancelled’ virtual gig next week, told Metro.co.uk exclusively how they adapted to a slower pace of life over the past few months.

Jade Thirlwall explained: ‘It was really bizarre to just sort of have to press pause and not do anything, because we are so used to just being on the go 24/7.

‘We see each other all the time and we’ve got used to that cycle of work, so for it all to stop it was a bit like “oh, how do I live a normal life?” I’m not used to being in my own apartment for this amount of time!

‘Everyone’s tries to find the positives out of all of this, whether it’s spending time with your family and friends or being more creative, doing things you wouldn’t usually have time to do in day to day life.’

Their Summer 2020 tour was one of the many events and live shows that was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, and while the dates have been rescheduled for next year, whether they are able to go ahead will depend on whether the world has managed to beat the virus and get back to some kind of normality.

‘We hope to be able to tour next year, obviously nothing is for sure because of Covid,’ Jesy Nelson explained.

‘I think we have to wait and see what happens really – I think everyone a bit unsure at the moment.’

The fans are so important to Little Mix, and while they may not be able to see them face to face for a while, their Meerkat Music performance is a way of giving something back to them until they can get out on the road as before.

‘We were gutted that the summer tour was cancelled, we hate to disappoint the fans and obviously we were gutted as well because it is our favourite thing to do,’ Jade admitted.

‘So when the idea came about to do the Meerkat Music gig we were like “yeah, let’s do it! Let’s give the fans something.”’

Leigh-Anne Pinnock added: ‘We can’t wait, being able to perform together again is such an amazing feeling, we’ve missed it so much.

‘Even just to see each other was great. That’s our favourite thing to do, we love performing so it’s come at the right time.’

Perrie Edwards teased that the band would be performing new music at the show: ‘Not being able to perform is just the worst thing ever, we literally live for it – it’s what we do.

‘We can’t wait to get back to touring but in the meantime this is to tide us over and for the fans to see us perform new stuff as well.’

As well as the upcoming performance, Little Mix’s next album is ready to drop and it’s going to be good vibes all round.

Jade revealed what fans can expect: ‘I think Holiday is a really good taster of what is to come on the album – it’s really fun, uplifting, it’s quite celebratory, I would say, of Little Mix and what we do best.’

Perrie added: ‘The album is actually finished, we’ve done all the album artwork and the video for Holiday will also be dropping very soon which we can’t wait for.

‘Everything is ready to go, we just can’t wait to release it.’

Little Mix transform into mythical mermaids for Holiday music video

Little Mix have transformed into majestic mermaids in the brand new music video for their latest single Holiday.

The girl group have finally dropped the clip for the summery-themed track, and it’s very aesthetically pleasing.

In the video, we see the singers – Jesy Nelson, Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Perrie Edwards – inside what’s been described as a ‘spa on Mars’, complete with plenty of underwater visuals throughout.

Not only do we see the group appear on screen as mythical sea creatures – just like they do for the song’s artwork – but they also become Greek goddesses and relax on a desert in bikinis.

And can we talk about Perrie’s elaborate hair piece?

It’s safe to say that fans on social media are obsessed with the video as much as we are, with one ecstatic supporter tweeting: ‘ARE YOU KIDDING ME THIS IS LITERALLY THEIR BEST MV [music video] I’M OBSESSED.’

Another chimed in: ‘The Holiday mv didn’t come to play, she SLAYED.’

‘Absolutely love the brand new video from @LittleMix,’ another fan happily wrote. ‘Love the looks, the effects, the backdrops… everything is on point.’

The Little Mix girls notably filmed the video amid lockdown and previously spoke about the social distancing measures they had to undertake in order to shoot safely.

Perrie explained to the Capital Evening Show: ‘I mean, it was a very bizarre experience. It was like, everybody had to fill out forms, everybody had to wear masks and visors, there was only a certain number of people on set.

‘We had to get our temperature taken. We had to stay far away from each other, and they are going to somehow super-impose it.

‘So we were together, but we were distanced, so it’s clever how they’ve done it, and we saw an edit yesterday and we gagged. It’s insane.’

Despite the restrictions in place, there’s no denying the girl group pulled it off.

Little Mix’s Holiday is available to stream and download now.
